What is a Well Woman Check?

The Well Woman Check is a simple blood test that provides a comprehensive, personalised wellness profile for woman who wish to have a full body check and screening for any potential underlying diseases or conditions.

If you’re concerned about fatigue, tiredness, or any other symptoms, a blood test is the most effective way of detecting underlying health issues.

A Typical Check

Just a quick, simple blood test, it provides key information on your kidney, liver, heart and thyroid health and blood sugar, plus iron, calcium and testosterone hormone levels.

It can identify anaemia, a current infection, and any underlying inflammation. It also includes a full blood count and vitamin profile.

Quick results from a simple blood test that screens for any underlying conditions including:

Your questions About The Well Woman Check

The treatment costs £149.

It will take about 20 minutes in the clinic, to take the sample. If you have an appointment before 2.00pm then you get your results the next working day. For appointments after 2.00pm it is within 2 working days.

You will be emailed the results, with a report highlighting any abnormalities. You will be advised to see your GP, if required.
Emma is a Nurse Prescriber and an Accredited Surgeon's Assistant (Royal College of Surgeon's England) She has an RGN - Diploma in Nursing Studies from Liverpool John Moores University and a BA Hons Health Studies form Manchester Metropolitan University.
You do not need to fast for our tests. If you have been requested by your GP or healthcare provider to fast, please write ‘fasting’ on the Test Request Form
Unfortunately, there are certain situations when your results can be delayed such as late delivery of the sample or maintenance of laboratory equipment.
Haemolysed blood means that the red blood cells have been damaged during the blood collection or transport processes. Heat can cause it too. Haemolysed blood can be difficult to test and can mean that the blood test needs to be repeated.
Unfortunately, there is no way to completely guarantee that a sample will not clot.
We recommend you contact your GP for a full interpretation of your results.

The management of the Pathology Department is committed to delivering a service that is compliant with the requirements for Medical Laboratories set by the International Standard Organisation (ISO 15189:2012), the Care Quality Commission (CQC) Health and Safety Executive (HSE), and Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA). Internal quality assurance is achieved by strict adherence to standard operating procedures for all analytical processes (UKAS ISO 15189:2012). LML participates in National External Quality Assessment Schemes such as NEQAS and EQAAS. These schemes are subscribed to by NHS and private laboratories. Results are subjected to strict internal and external quality control.
